Modified Schedule Due to Extreme Heat

Due to the extreme heat forecast in Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser has activated a Hot Weather Emergency through Thursday, September 7, 2023.

Accordingly, Beyond Granite: Pulling Together will modify its Welcome Station operations.

Welcome Stations at the Lincoln Memorial, Lockkeeper’s House, Sylvan Theater, and 12th Street (near the Smithsonian Metro) will be closed through Thursday, September 7.

During this time, the exhibition and artwork will remain open to the public. We urge all visitors to be mindful of the heat, as many of the installations are in direct sunlight.

We anticipate returning to regular Welcome Station operations on Friday, September 8.
